Julnowrimo 2010: Writing Progress for Day 2

lmeighmyI wrote more today than I did yesterday (although, to be honest, most of it's not new, just transcribed). My word count for today is 8,548, while my total word count is 15,631! :D I did add some new material, and tried to add some descriptions, so it wasn't straight transcribing.

Anyway, Malachai has just joined Arjun and Claire in their adventure as an official member of their team. However, Arjun has gotten himself captured, and is awaiting death. Will Malachai and Claire get to him in time before his captor kills him? And if they do get to him in time, will they manage to get away or will they all be captured?

I guess you'll have to find out next time. ;)

Now, I'm off to have lunch and (hopefully) finish reading Black Diamond. :D

Reading, Writing, and A Photo

lmeighmyToday is Jeff's last day at the greenhouse. He's still going to get two weeks' vacation pay, thankfully, but he'll be applying for unemployment, too, at some point.

I'll be writing more this morning. After today, I'll write as I have time. Jeff wants me to show him how to use the desktop computer so he can write his cover letter and work on his resume on it. It's in Josiah's room right now. We may end up moving it, but I'm not sure.

I got my book, Black Diamond, in the mail yesterday. It was written by my Nanowrimo mentee, Ja'Nese Dixon. I'm loving it, so far. I'm about two-thirds of the way through it, and once I pick it up, it's hard to put it down! :) She sent me a free book by another author, too, as she was having a giveaway for preorders! :D

My mom got some pictures in the mail yesterday. Eric and Chelsey were at Sears (I think) about a couple weeks ago, and a woman ran after them and asked if she could photograph Josiah (she was a photographer at the Sears Portrait Studio). She took several, and gave them information on where they could view the photos and order some. My mom ordered some, and they just came. She gave one to Jeff and me:

Isn't he the cutest little bugger you've ever seen? :D She has a larger one I'd like to scan, but we'll see. I want to digitally scrapbook them. :)

Well, I'd better hurry up on here so I can get to work on the novel.

Have an awesome day! :D

Julnowrimo 2010: Writing Progress

lmeighmyWow! I just pounded out 7,078 words this morning! :D I've done some editing to the story as I've been re-writing the beginning, making changes here and there. But it's flowing smoothly, in spite of the changes. At this rate, I could reach 50K in six days! :P

Obviously, I don't plan on having it written that quickly, but I should be able to put another huge dent in it tomorrow morning. Then Jeff's done at the greenhouse. I may or may not have as much time to write. It will change on a daily basis, I'm sure.

Anyway, my writing for today started out with Arjun stopping off at a diner and running into the girl he loved (from afar) when he was in high school...only now, she's a grown woman and seems to be a bit older than he is. He gives her a ride home and reveals to her what he's become. She still accepts him for who and what he is, claiming that she has always loved him. His news has not changed her feelings for him in the least.

He also tells her what his life is like, how the "Hunters" are after him. She wants to go on the road with him, but he won't have it. He doesn't want to put her life in danger. Because of this, she demands that he leave and never come back.

I guess this is a dark fantasy thriller with a lot of romance in it. I think Immortal Watchdogs will be this way, too. I like it, though. I feel as though I was born to write romance, but I work hard to develop my characters. I don't just want a pretty little love story. I put my characters through a lot so I can see what they're made of. :)

And now, I've got to get off here to take a shower and get something to eat.

Happy Thursday!

Lois

Another Novel Writing Month?

lmeighmyJeff's got his resume written. Now he's got to write his cover letter. He also got contact information about the greenhouse his boss told him about. It's in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Once he has the cover letter written, he'll contact them to see about a possible job. He's got contact information for a lot of other greenhouses, too. Something's bound to work out. :)

I actually did some proofreading and light editing to Redemption yesterday. I've decided to participate in July Novel Writing Month this month. I figure if I can get 2K written most days, I'll be set. I'm rewriting what I've got in Redemption, so far, then I'll add to it. I just want to be writing as often as I can. Whether or not I reach 50K is secondary.

This afternoon, we have an appointment at the Ford dealership to have the Focus looked at. I plan to take my laptop with me, since I have an audiobook on hold that's become available at Library2Go.

So, that's pretty much what I have planned for today. What are the rest of you up to?

A Good Monday

lmeighmyYesterday was good. Jeff and I took several bags of books over to Coffee & A Good Book. I got $30 in credit on what they accepted, then we went on to the post office to mail out a small package. After that, we headed for The Salvation Army, where we dropped off the books that Coffee & A Good Book didn't take. Then we drove over into Oklahoma. It began to rain, and we stopped off at Taco Bell for a very light lunch for $2 apiece. Once we finished there, we headed back into V.B. and stopped at Coffee & A Good Book to use my credit. I found four books to buy. I had $2 left, so I bought a decaf iced coffee with it. I wanted to use it all up. ;)

Jeff looked for examples of greenhouse grower resumes, then looked at some more houses in Grand Rapids, Michigan, while I looked over my new books more thoroughly.

After a while, I went out to the kitchen to start dinner. I made corn chowder (water, salt, peeled and diced potatoes, corn, milk and butter) and chicken breasts (on the George Foreman grill).

After dinner, we walked the dog. We had a steady, moderate rain, and when we got back, I talked Jeff into giving Niki a bath. I got wetter than he did. My pant legs were practically dripping. She didn't like it, at first, but eventually seemed to resign herself to her fate. She smells a lot better now! :P

Then I took a shower...my second one for the day.

This morning, I made iced Indian Spice tea and iced Rose Hip tea.

I'm feeling kind of blah. I contribute it to the water. We don't have the best quality water here, and that's the main reason I drink bottled water. I can't use it in everything, though, so I'm wondering if the water in the corn chowder or the coffee might have made me slightly ill. Just another reason why moving from here would be a good thing. ;)

Anyway, I plan to do a bit of reading today, but first, I need to finish up online. Have an awesome day! :D

Just A Quick Update

lmeighmyWe're heading out to Coffee & A Good Book, then the Salvation Army, to get rid of some stuff. The kids and my mom are going to the park, then Eric will be going to work.

I don't know when I'll get to check my F-List, but I'll try to do it today or tomorrow.

We moved the kennel back to our room last night, and Niki did very well. Hopefully, the trend will continue. :)

Have an awesome day!

Amazing Skies & Adventures in Walking Niki

lmeighmy
Jeff and I did a lot of weeding out and organizing yesterday. We may bring Niki's kennel back to our room, now that we took the bookcase out of here. I may do a little more organizing today.

I don't really have much planned besides that. Maybe I'll edit some photos. Eventually, I'll get them posted. :)

Speaking of photos, we had a double rainbow last night. It was really cool. We could clearly see the main one with a lighter one outside of it. Here are three pictures:

Niki's been doing okay. Jeff gave her some food with medicine...or thought he did...but actually, he gave her Chloe's dish. So, I've got to try to coax her to eat her own food today so she can get her last dose of medicine.

When we walked Niki last night, the evil stalker kitty that often follows us up the road came out and kept meowing and following us, as usual. When we got a bit more than halfway up the road, Niki saw something and tried to run after it. Jeff looked ahead, thinking it was the evil stalker kitty, but it was a skunk. We just turned and headed back. It's not like it was going to follow us. It was just ambling along, looking for food. I wished it had been a little closer and that I'd had the foresight to bring my camera, but it was dark anyway, so it wouldn't have done any good. :( Still, it was neat to see another skunk. They're so cute! :)

There hasn't really been much happening here for me to post about, so I'll end here. I hope you all have an awesome day!
