My Writing Space

I got an e-mail from Nanowrimo and it reminded me that I hadn't sent in a photo of my writing space. Yesterday was the last date they were accepting photos, but I sent one anyway (I didn't get the e-mail until this morning). I've included it here, just so you can have some idea of where I'm sitting when I write (at least at home):

So, where do you write? ;-)

Flash Fiction: A Garden's Restoration

I've written a very short story in response to this post on the Sunflower Ranch Blog. It was supposed to be no more than 50 words, but I couldn't make it that short. I ended up with 169 words.

Here it is:

A Garden's Restoration
by Lois Eighmy

From dawn to dusk, he toiled in the little garden beside the cottage. The aches and pains in his limbs, his back and his neck did nothing to diminish the love he put into his work. His beloved wife could no longer tend her garden, tears flowing daily as sorrow overtook her at the sight of the overgrown area.

Finally realizing what the little garden meant to her, he planned a whole day to restore the overgrown sanctuary to what it had been before his wife grew ill. He worked long and hard to make it the most beautiful garden ever to have existed.

At the end of the long day, when he stood back and looked upon the growing things now free of brambles and weeds and restored to their former beauty, he sighed happily. He looked toward the window where he knew his wife would be watching. Tears filled her eyes and a smile curved her quivering lips.

It was then he knew he had done well.

Let me know what you think! :-D

10K Day for Writers:

I wasn't going to post my progress anywhere but on the 10K Day for Writers blog entry for today, but I changed my mind. I'll be posting my progress here in this entry throughout the day whenever I take a break so I'll have something to look back on and remember.

Be watching! :-)

Lois

-----------------

Started around 7:00 a.m. and stopped for a break at about 9:20.

I wrote 3,578 words! Go, me! :-D

Jason has just met some bad news boys, a gang of six high school drop outs and he's going to hang out with them for a while. But Maddy, his new love interest, knows about the gang and she's about to warn him about them...after I come back from my break. Will he listen to her? ;-)

More later! :-D

Lois

-----------------

I wrote from 10:00 - 12:30 and am now at 7,550 words! Woo hoo! :-D

Jason met with his new gang friends and they drank and smoked dope, not a good thing for a boy who's all mixed up about who he is and where he belongs. :-(

He also had a run-in with Zane and Matheu in which he cussed Zane out pretty good. He's doing everything he can to drive them away. :-S

He's also gone on a date with Maddy. It went well, but he's about to run into the gang again. Something's going to happen that'll send his life spiraling out of control. Poor kid! O_O

Well, I've got to post an update on LJ, then it's back to work for me! :-D

Lois

---------------------------

I did it!!!!! :-D I'm at 11,702 words currently, but I plan on reaching 15,000 by the time I stop! :-)

In about an hour and a half, I've written 4,147 words. Woohoo! *happy dance*

Jason hung out with his friends, getting drunk and high, and then they went and stole cigarettes from a convenience store. They were discovered and Jason...ONLY Jason...was caught. His dad was called to pick him up. When they got home, his dad started beating him up, but he fought back. His dad grabbed his hunting rifle and shot at him and poor Jason was shot in the side pretty bad. Now his so-called "friends" want nothing more to do with him! Maddy's mother shut him out and won't help him. He's kind of wandered around, weakly, and found himself at the lake where Zane and Matheu have found him. They've taken him to Zane's house and he's being cared for. He's now unconscious, thankfully!

Next up: Jason and Zane have a good long heart to heart talk where Jason tells him everything that's been going on with him.

And I'm not done yet. I'll be done when I reach 15,000! LOL!

--------------------------------

I reached my personal goal and surpassed it with a grand total of 15,410 words for today. Wow! I never, EVER thought I could write so many words in one day! I guess my muse is going strong and I type faster than I think! :-D

Well, in this section, Jason told Zane all about what's been going on in his life since his mother died five years earlier. He's told him about the abuse from his dad and the moving around and such. He told him why his father shot him, too...including the fact that he was drinking and smoking pot with his former "friends." Zane's father has offered to let him stay with them for a while, until they can find some place more permanent for him.

It's Christmas afternoon right now in my story and Jason got to spend some time with Maddy, thanks to Zane calling her mother and talking her into letting Maddy visit for a while. :-)

I don't know if I'll do any writing tomorrow, but if I do, it'll just be a little bit (boy, are my wrists sore!). It was fun and I would LOVE to do this again! :-D

Floral Digital Scrapbook Page:

I've made a new digital scrapbook page. The photos were taken by a friend of mine and she wanted me to scrapbook them. The papers and other elements are from Scrapgirls.com and Scrapbook.com.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think, if you would be so kind. :-)

Lois

Baby Josiah (or, to me, JOEY):

These are all made with Corel's Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and digital papers and embellishments I bought at either Scrapbook.com or Scrapgirls.com. I own the copyrights to the completed projects, but not to the individual papers and embellishments from those sites.

I'm planning on making a new scrapbook page, but first I've got some writing to do. :-)

Hope you enjoyed the digital scrapbook pages! :-D

My First Published Article! :-D

I'd never written an article before, so when Milli Thornton, from Fear of Writing, asked me to write an article about how I am overcoming my inner critic, I was nervous. But I saw it as a challenge and I was determined to try, and try I did!

You can read my article here: How I Am Overcoming My Inner Critic and My Fear of Success.

Milli was great to work with. She was very friendly and helpful and I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity. Thank you, Milli! :-)

Check it out and please let me know what you think! :-D

Thanks,

Lois

Another Scrapbook Page of My Mom:

This one has my mom with my son, Eric, his girlfriend, Chelsey, and their son, Josiah.

The text under the photos refers to how she reacted when they asked her if she wanted to hold the little bundle of joy. :-)

This time I used digital papers and embellishments I purchased from Scrapbook.com, as well as Corel's Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. I hold the copyright to the completed scrapbook page, but not the individual elements I used in it's creation.

This is my favorite one...so far. ;-)

Two Digital Scrapbook Pages:

I've recently begun making new digital scrapbook pages and I wanted to share two of them here.

The papers and embellishments are from Scrapgirls.com and I used Corel's Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 to make the pages.

I own the copyright to the completed page, but not to the page elements I got from Scrapgirls.

The first one is a picture of my mom with my son, Eric, and my cat, Chloe:

The second photo is of my mom, my son, Eric, and his girlfriend, Chelsey:

I have more to post, but I'm getting off here to do some writing. I'll post another one or two tomorrow.
