Recipe!

I promised a friend I would post this recipe sometime, and I just now remembered. Chelsey sent it to me. I don't remember where she got it from.

MINT SHAKE

Ingredients:

2 cups low-fat vanilla ice cream
1 cup skim milk
1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
4 drops green food coloring or to taste

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a blender and process until smooth and creamy

Note:

Do you love a certain seasonal mint green fast food milkshake? Now you can make this delicious treat year round!

Floating away...

It's a soggy mess here, and I just found out from Chelsey that today's our biggest chance for severe weather so far this season. Aaarrrgh! Yesterday evening, the skies here became greenish, and we had high winds (I actually saw some rotation in the clouds above us), torrential rainfall, and frequent, dangerous lightning. I am not looking forward to a repeat of that! Funny thing is, this all happened some time after my dad and step-mom called to see if we were alright. O_o Our yards are looking like swamps, again. Yesterday, I asked Jeff if he thinks we should build an ark! :P

In other news, I've got some great ideas for my Immortal Watchdogs: Damian of Crete character's modern story. I need to jot them down and brainstorm for a bit.

I also need to finish the Kindle e-Book I started yesterday. I only have, I think, three days left to finish it.

I'll be babysitting Josiah tomorrow. Thankfully, I'll be able to babysit him at Eric and Chelsey's place. We still have too many fleas!

Anyway, I need to hurry up and get off here. We've got some distant lightning and thunder, and I don't want to tempt fate.

10K Day -- 20 April 2011 -- Final

I did it! I finished 10K Day, and it was a success! :D

My final word count: 10,481

I didn't finish Damian of Crete's backstory, but I've only got a little left to go. The news has gotten out about his powers, and his father has banished him. He left willingly, ending up in Romania, where he's just met Kalaghata, one of my other Immortal Watchdogs characters (my favorite), who will help him control his powers.

As always, this has been an awesome 10K Day. I look forward to the next one! :D

I guess tomorrow will largely be taken up with catching up online and finishing Damian's backstory. I can't wait! :)

But now, it's time to relax...

10K Day -- 20 April 2011 -- Break 2:

My progress thus far: 5,310 words!

I've begun working on my Immortal Watchdogs: Damian of Crete story, and I must say, it's going more slowly than I'd hoped. I'm liking it though. So far, I've written about his birth and his sister's death. Things don't start getting really interesting until this next part I'll be writing--the part when his hateful brother plays a nasty trick on him. That leads to Damian being sent away, which leads to more Hell than one young man should have to endure.

I justify all this by saying that it will make him stronger in the end--when it really counts. ;)

And now, I'm off to resume Damian's backstory...

10K Day -- 20 April 2011 -- Break 1:

I wrote 3,129 words in two to two-and-a-half hours. Three rough drafts for character journal entries for my Sonny Deltoro character. His world (the U.S.) has gone to war with itself, and he's caught up in the middle of it. He's not a soldier, but he's wanted for kidnapping (he's innocent), and he's just panicked and killed a soldier. He sees no way out, but has gotten to a "neutral" state, so he feels slightly safe at the moment.

Next up, I'll be working on a new Immortal Watchdogs character, Damian of Crete. I'm sorry to say he won't fare much better than Sonny, but if he did, there wouldn't be a story, would there? ;)

Wish me luck! I plan to reach 10K by about 5:30.

10K Day -- 20 April 2011:

I'm late getting started on my 10K Day, but I'm about to begin. I wanted to get my shower out of the way, then I needed to start a load of laundry (the rugs and bathmat from the master bath), then I had to vacuum some of the high traffic areas, including that bathroom.

Now that's all done, I can get started. I plan to write straight through to 5:30 or so with minimal breaks. I'll check in later this afternoon.

Wish me luck! :D

Pre-10K Day Post -- More Wild Weather

Since finishing my screenplay last week, I've been preparing for tomorrow's 10K Day. I have two stories in mind. One is from my Immortal Watchdogs series. The other is a character journal story I've begun writing (the whole story is told in blog form). I took a couple of days off over the weekend, and I've been scrambling around for ideas over the past two days. I've got good beginnings to both stories, so I think I'm ready.

And if I'm not, I'll write anyway, because I'm cool that way! :)

It looks like we're in for a rough night again tonight. Storms are already beginning to pop up. We could have anything from larger-than-baseball-sized hail, to tornadoes, to wind gusts to 70 mph, to dangerous lightning. They're saying "explosive [thunderstorm] development is expected along cold front this afternoon as it encounters a strongly unstable air mass." This could get very...interesting, to say the least.

Needless to say, prayers would be appreciated. If I live through this, I'll update tomorrow.

Thank you!

Lois
