To Do Lists, Discussions, Rings...

I managed to do all of two things on my To Do List yesterday, but they were writing related, so I'm okay with that. I'll work on the rest of my list today.

I jotted down some notes for the fantasy/ western I have in mind, then I wrote several entries for Jack's journal...with pen in a real notebook while I was in the tub! :P After my bath/ shower, I went out and started dinner, then took my laptop out there to transcribe Jack's journal, so far. I also made a graphic to go with it and I wrote one or two more entries right on the computer.

Then Eric wanted to know what I was writing and I closed the laptop. I don't like people reading what I'm writing while I'm writing. Plus, it was a slightly romantic scene (no, not sex, I don't write sex) and I didn't want him to read it just then.

Somehow, we got into a discussion and I said some things I shouldn't have. Needless to say, the rest of the night was pretty subdued. :( Hopefully, we can work it out today after he gets home.

On the bright side, Eric and Chelsey bought their wedding rings and her engagement ring yesterday! :D They'll be making payments. They were really expensive. But they're nice. They bought them at Kay Jewelers. :)

Now I want a diamond solitaire! :P (A diamond's not really necessary. I'd rather like a turquoise.)

Today, I plan on working on The Gift, the project I'm doing with Patti. I also plan to work on that SotWF Timeline, consolidating my character journals into one and working on the family tree. I'm cutting it really close on that.

When I have time, I'll finish reading the CP manual.

Otherwise, I don't really have anything else planned for today...except to grab something to eat soon. ;)

Have a great day! :D

My Writing Plans for Today:

Yesterday was a good day, even if I didn't get a high word count. I didn't even reach 2,000 words, but it wasn't a word count day. I still put a lot of time into my writing in the form of research and working on the important SotWF Timeline. I've got a lot of the major events on there, but I still need to add national events, too, so I know when different things happened (like the Removal [Cherokee Trail of Tears]) and the Battle at Little Bighorn.

I'm also thinking of consolidating my character journals into one and just using a userpic or two for each main character. After all, it would be easier to post to one journal, instead of three. ;)

Today, I don't want to be online a lot. I want to spend some "off computer" time with my work, so I've come up with several things I want to do:
  • Jot down some ideas for the western/ fantasy story
  • Work on an offline journal entry (or two) for Jack Hunter (new MC)
  • Work on The Gift, a project I'm working on with Patti
  • Read CP Manual
If I decide to consolidate my character journals, I'll probably do that today or sometime over the weekend. I've got to work on the family tree, too, and finish printing it out so I'll have it. I've got until the 9th to work on it, but by the evening of the 9th, I need to cancel my membership.

So, those are my plans for today. :)

We had storms last night. I hadn't been watching the sat/rad, so I was surprised when the clouds started moving in and began getting dark. Early on, there was a lot of lightning. We lost the satellite signal a few times and the electricity flickered a lot later on. We all played Apples To Apples and it was fun! Even Chelsey and Jeff had a blast! :D I'm hoping we'll play it more often. :)

Well, that's about it for now. Have a great day! :D

Wednesday Writing Sprints, August 5, 2009:

Today, I'm going to work on the character journals. I don't know if I'll get them all done, but I'm going to try. I also want to work on one of my novels. I'll update again later.

Well, that's all the news here. :)

Oh, wait! There is a bit more news!

Eric and Chelsey announced to us yesterday afternoon that they're getting married! They were looking into wedding chapels, but they finally decided on the courthouse. I guess the wedding chapels are too expensive (even though they're much cheaper than a full-blown church wedding). Anyway, they're both excited, and so are we! :D

Okay, that's all the news here. ;)

Have a great day!

More Writing Progress:

I added 2,058 more words to Sons of the Wild Frontier: Book One,
bringing my total word count for the day to 5,424! :D I'm on a roll and
I'm lovin' it! :)

I've included a very short excerpt here, only because I love sad
goodbyes. Remember, Fox is the crazy one. Sawyer is the serious,
brooding one:
Sawyer threw his arms around Fox's shoulders and pulled him into a tight, brotherly embrace. “Take care of yourself, little brother.”

“I will,” Fox answered quietly. “And don't go gettin' yourself killed. I may need your help once in a while.”

Sawyer smiled at that. He had no doubt that Fox would get himself into trouble. He often did. “I can't guarantee anything,” he said.

“I know. And I understand why you have to leave, but they won't.” Fox pointed toward the house, part of which could be seen through the barn door.

“I don't expect them to. You can try to make them understand, can't you?”

“I'll try, but I doubt I'll be able to get through. Dad's stubborn and Mom...well, she's Mom.”

“Yeah,” Sawyer sighed, lifting his hat and running his hand through his long hair. He set the hat back atop his head and turned toward Gentry. He put his foot into the stirrup and pulled himself up, swinging his other leg over the horse's back until he was in a seated position in the saddle. “Take care of yourself,” he added, leaning down and extending his hand to Fox.

“You, too,” Fox answered.

With that, Sawyer rode out of the barn and around the house to the main road leading out of town. He didn't look back or he would have seen Fox watching him, a single tear running down his cheek as the only clue to the sadness the younger man was feeling.
Tomorrow is Wednesday Writing Sprints and I plan to work on the character journals. Other writing will follow those, but I'm not sure what yet.

This is my last post for today.

Have a great afternoon and evening!

Lois

So far, so good:

I've added 3,366 words to my Zane Greywolf novel. Go me! :D

Now I'm off to work on Sons of the Wild Frontier: Book One...

Today's Writing Progress:

Well, I wrote 4,276 new words in my Zane Greywolf novel. I'm happy! :D I got a late start, too.

Anyway, here's an excerpt (short and not so sweet...dangerous, actually):
Suddenly, another wolf leaped out from behind me. I turned to raise my rifle up, but the wolf was almost on top of me by then. It leaped into the air and knocked me to the ground, sending my rifle flying. It sat with it's front paws on my chest and it's teeth bared.

I knew I was in serious trouble. I couldn't reach for the rifle. Any sudden move would set it off. Still, I had to try. I had to try for the rifle or suffer certain death. I reached for it and suddenly felt a searing pain in my shoulder as the wolf sank his fangs into my flesh. I cried out in pain and tried to raise the rifle with my good arm, but it was too much of a struggle and I dropped it. I pushed hard against the wolf's throat kicking and fighting. It drew back and bit into my side, tearing into the soft flesh there.

I began to feel weak and nauseated. The light around me began to dim. Still, I tried to fight back.

Somewhere in the distance, I heard the sound of a gunshot. I felt a great weight fall on top of me and wondered why the wolf would be lying on my chest. I tried to push it off of me, but I was too weak. I could only lie there and stare up at the tops of the trees...and the blurry figure that appeared. I squinted to try to get a better view of whatever or whoever was standing over me, but my consciousness was slipping away. I felt the great weight being dragged from my chest, then the blurry figure knelt down beside me as everything faded to black.
How's that? :)

Tomorrow, I'll be working on SotWF.

Hope you're all having a great day! It's thundering a little here. I wish the sun would come back out, but c'est la vie.

Have a great afternoon and evening,

Lois
