Short & Simple

lmeighmyYesterday was a depressing day for me. I don't know why...maybe just the feeling that nothing I want matters. I don't know. I feel a bit better today, and I hope it stays that way. I'm trying to learn to be content, but it isn't easy. :(

Anyway, I've got four things on my To Do List for today:
  1. Grocery shopping
  2. Go through guest room closet with Jeff
  3. Edit more photos
  4. Do some outlining for tomorrow's personal 10K Day
These tasks should keep me busy. Hopefully, they'll keep my mind of stuff.

Today's supposed to be sunny and get up to 98°...and it's already that now. It feels like 112°.

Have a great Father's Day weekend!

Another Busy Day

lmeighmyYesterday was a very full day, and I got a lot accomplished. I miss writing, but I'll get my fix on Sunday, when I have my personal 10K Day. I may make Monday a day of drawing. It all depends on how things work out with weeding out and everything. Other, more urgent things may come up.

I have to admit to no small amount of discouragement. I really, really want to move back to New England. I've wanted this for a long time, but we keep putting it off because of other things. I'm tired of putting my dreams on hold because of this or that! Will I ever get to see my dreams come true, or am I doomed to live in "Tornado Alley" until I die (which could be sooner than I think with all the tornadoes that come through the middle of the country)? I know we'll all die sometime, but I don't want to go until I at least get to live in New England again. :(

I only have four things on my To Do List for today:
  1. Go through guest room closet (with Jeff)
  2. Call S. in Vermont
  3. Edit more photos (ongoing until they're done)
  4. Draw

I'll be calling S. as soon as I finish up online. I'm hoping she'll be home, and not working, but I guess that's what answering machines are for.

Jeff and I went to the library yesterday and got the books I had on hold. I also got an extra graphic novel while we were there.

Then we went to Coffee & A Good Book and exchanged several books for two new paperback novels. The credit I had left, I put toward a large Chai Latte. :)

We also mailed out a rebate form with proofs of purchase, and two thank you cards. I'm hoping to take some new photos today or tomorrow to print and send out to my grandma.

I signed up for a Library2Go account and downloaded my first audio book. I'll have to start doing that from the coffee shop, though. They use up a ton of bandwidth!

Well, I'd better hurry up so I can call S.

Have an awesome day!

I Really Need to Get Serious

lmeighmyI'm taking the next three days to work on weeding out. I haven't been ruthless enough. We still have a lot of clutter. I need to go through my clothes again, my books, and all the rest of my stuff. I want to get to where I only have the things I need and want most.

If I get a little writing done, it will be a nice bonus. :) Same goes for drawing. I'll be keeping a writing notebook (something I haven't been good about doing before) to jot down any notes or snippets, and I'll keep it nearby.I've also got a sketchbook, so I can do some sketching when inspiration moves me.

Anyway, my To Do List for today looks something like this:
  1. Get a notebook and pen ready for note taking
  2. Get my sketchbook, pens and pencils ready for sketching
  3. Go through my clothing again
  4. Go through my books again
  5. Go through my CDs, videos and DVDs again
  6. Go through my studio closet again
  7. Go through guest room closet
  8. Call S. in Vermont
  9. Don't forget to eat and take vitamins during all this
  10. Get thank you cards ready to go in the mail
  11. Edit a few photos
I have a lot to do, but really, this list is for the next three days. I'll do most of it today, since Jeff's working. Then tomorrow and Saturday, I'll do what I can. It shouldn't be a problem. :)

Sunday will be either a 5K Day or a 10K Day. I'm hoping to make it to 10K. ;)

It's nice and sunny here right now. It's supposed to get up to 96°, but it will get hotter than that. It's been like that a lot lately. Yesterday, they predicted a high of 89°, but it got up to at least 100°, and it felt like 113°. The wasps and hornets are already out this morning. :(

Have an awesome day!

More Headway Today?

lmeighmyI'm feeling creative. I guess it's because of all the writing I did yesterday. But before I do anything creative, I need to get the things ready that I plan to move into the guest room so I'll be able to do that quickly.

I also want to draw. I need to get some practice in for some projects I want to do.

There's still no word on what's happening with the greenhouse, but I guess they're going to start selectively getting rid of some of the plants. Jeff had to go in a little early this morning.

I've been needing to call my friend in Vermont, but I want to wait until we have some kind of news. I don't want to get her hopes up...or mine. But if her husband would be willing to hire Jeff and train him in home construction, Jeff said he'd do it if the deal was good enough, so I really need to call her...just in case.

I also need to go through the stuff in my file cabinet and see what I can get rid of, as well as the rest of my stuff in the old studio. Slowly, but surely, I'm whittling down. I need to work faster, though.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love the Prince: It's Showtime soundtrack? It's easily my favorite CD right now, and has been since I got it. :)

Writing Progress:

lmeighmyI worked on my screenplay and my new story today. I'm very pleased with what I've written.

In the screenplay, my main character finally meets a new ally, a friend of his best friend. Four pages of conversation between the two, but it's good conversation. :)

In Redemption, my new story, the hero and heroine make it to safety, only to find out that more danger is coming...and they have an unlikely ally, who was introduced earlier in the story. Good stuff! :D

Here's the word/ page count rundown:
Screenplay: 975 words/ about 5 pages
Redemption: 3,648 words/ 10,648 total words (about 7 pages)
Hopefully, I'll get some more work done tomorrow. I'd sure love to! :)

And now I have other things to do. Have a great evening!

Writing Day!

lmeighmyI made progress yesterday. I went through my thirteen binders and freed up six. Four will be thrown out, as they aren't in great shape, and Jeff took one. That left me a brand new one for future use. I also reorganized everything in the binders I'm still using. All the papers I'm getting rid of fall into two categories: papers that can be thrown out as is, and papers that need to be burned or shredded. The burn/ shred pile is larger than the as is pile.

This morning, I did a little rearranging in the bedroom. I'll be moving some things into the guest room today, but not much. Just some books, some Christmas stuff that was still in The Room Formerly Known As the Studio's closet, and a couple other things. I may move my bucket of yarn in there too. I've already gone through it and gotten rid of some of the yarn, too. In fact, I gave Chelsey the chance to look through it, and she chose the periwinkle yarn. I like the color, I just don't use purple much, so I'm glad it's gone to a good home. :)

So, this morning has already been spent with a bit of sweating and frustration. ;) Now that that's behind me, I can get back to some writing. I plan to work on my new story and my screenplay today. Slow, but steady, is the name of the game right now. :)

I don't know when I'll get to editing the photos. Soon, I hope, but there are so many other things to do that they tend to fall by the wayside. I can't promise anything, but I'll try to post a few by this weekend.

It's gloomy here...perfect for rainy weather writing. Maybe it will inspire the next part of my new story.

And now I've got to wake Niki up so I take her out and start on Jeff's laundry.

Have a great day!

Is This Domesticity?

lmeighmyI've already weeded out a bunch of stuff this morning. I got rid of about half a garbage bagful of stuff, mostly papers and magazines/ catalogs, but there was some other stuff in there too. It was all from the closet in The Room Formerly Known As My Studio. ;) I may go through the stuff on my bookcases later. Those are in the guest room. If possible, I'd like to bring one of those into the bedroom and put it on my side of the bed. I'd have to turn my laptop table around against the other wall for that, but I think it could work.

I'm also doing laundry. And I have a phone call to make. I need to e-mail my sister, too. As far as I know, she has no idea about what's going on here with Jeff's job loss. And I have some stuff to shred, but I'll do that when Niki's not in the room. She barks at the shredder, and it gets on my nerves! :P Besides, I'll be going through all my binders and throwing out a ton of stuff. I have my stories all saved to disc and Box.net, so I don't need hard copies right now. We need space more than I need a hard copy.

The only other things I have planned are working on some writing, and editing photos (I haven't done any yet, and I'll probably just do about ten, for now, but progress is progress).

I worked on my backstory some yesterday. Actually, it was just thoughts about some of the characters, with some names, but work is work, even if it's only a little bit. It still counts toward the total. :)

I'd better go walk the dog and check on the laundry.

Have an awesome day...and week! :D
